Position Overview:

My client is seeking an experienced Divisional Senior Accountant to drive growth in the building industry. With strong cost and management accounting expertise, you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy and integrity. Reporting to the Director and dotted line to the external CFO, you'll play a key role in effective financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting on the cost of materials, and overhead to ensure profitability and cost-effectiveness in all divisions.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of costs to projects and departments, in line with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and monitor cost structures, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Oversee and manage accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices.
  • Ensure proper reconciliation of General Ledger and Balance Sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Oversee overdue accounts and collaborate with the sales team to minimise bad debt.
  • Oversee and manage intercompany inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency across all divisions.
  • Perform inventory and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) reconciliations between intercompany entities, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Stock transfers reconciliation.
  • Assist with consolidation of financial statements across multiple business units, ensuring that intercompany transactions are accurately reflected in group accounts.
  • Provide detailed analysis and reports on consolidated financial results, highlighting key variances and trends.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including cost reports, variance analysis, and profitability analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the company's budget, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Provide insights into financial performance and suggest improvements where necessary.
  • Work closely with the Director and External CFO to ensure financial compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure internal controls are maintained to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Assist with the external audit process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • CA (Chartered Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualification is required.
  • A strong background in senior accounting or financial management, ideally within the construction or building materials sector.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a cost accounting or financial role, with exposure to managing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Experience in handling intercompany reconciliations, inventory management, and financial consolidations
  • Previous practice firm experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in a construction or building materials company is desirable.
  • Experience working with Privately owned business desirable
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting techniques, intercompany reconciliations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
