What's up dog?
Ringo visits our local rest home weekly. He has been doing this for about 6 months now and the residents love him. He completed the St John therpy pets programme and was assigned to a rest home. The residents faces light up when ever he comes to visit. Some residents adore dogs, others don't but he is always wlecomed by all with big smile. One of the most memorable moments I have of one of our visits, is mon our second or third visit - The carer took us into the room of a resident who isolates himself in his room most of the time. We knocked on the door and asked if he wanted a visit from a dog. He took to Ringo straight away, smothering him in attention and he had the biggest smile on his face. He told me how he used to have dogs and how much he misses them. When we left at the end of the visit, the carer told me that is the most amount shes seen him smile in a very long time. Another visit, one of the residents was self conscious as she has a tremor and she was conscious about it and about scaring Ringo - Ringo sat on her lap wagging his tail as she patted him . Dogs have no judgement on anyone and every visit we have at the rest home, brings me so much happiness to see how much the residents enjoy Ringos company - Ringo has bought so much joy to my life and its very rewardng to see him spread that joy to others.
