Meet Honor
Breed: Golden Retriever
Barking from: Christchurch
What's up dog?
I'm Honor, and I am a 4-year-old Golden Retriever. People think I'm a pretty girl dog, but I'm actually a strong boy dog. I'm not as big as my Golden Retriever friends because I had major surgery at 18 months old. I ate some baby wipes when we were at the river, which got stuck in my tummy. Luckily my Vet's Mike & Chantel did their magic in the middle of the night to save me.
I am a Certified Therapy Dog with Canine Friends Pet Therapy. I visit Retirement Homes, a Secure Dementia Unit in Christchurch and meet with people with disabilities. I also visit the Women's Prison, and students from the University of Canterbury. Sometimes the people I visit cry into my fur, but I don't mind because I love their cuddles.
I have been trained to detect rodents and can locate them on command. I have also been involved in Scent Training through Dogs NZ and the Canterbury Kennel Association. I have Scent Trials where I can show the Judges and Mum that I'm an expert.
Mum calls me her Ray of Sunshine because I help her while she'd battling depression. I keep her mind busy with my tennis balls or my soft toys I bring to her. Mum says that I'm obedient, smart, charming and very affectionate to all the people I meet. I really like going on adventures with my family and my Black Retriever sister, Happy. We share our Adventures on Instagram #NZGoldenBoy
I am most happy when I make other people happy
