Meet Missy
Breed: Mixed Breed
Barking from: Christchurch
What's up dog?
I adopted Missy from an ad on trade me, she was a rescue who had just had a litter of puppies who themselves had grown and been adopted out.
Missy was skinny with a fresh surgical scar and 9yrs old. We started as strangers in her new home and I had to learn quickly about how to train a dog. Missy had bad habits like jumping on the kitchen island, breaking the blinds and barking when alone... but we both learned quickly (her faster than me) about fixing things that can be fixed and making changes when they can't. Missy is now 15 and is no longer a stranger maybe a good friend, an elderly flatmate? Always happy to greet me when I arrive home from work, content to sleep at the end of the bed keeping me company when I work nights and sleep days. She knows there is food and a warm bed for her always, I know that while her world is small and her life short, my responsibility is to ensure she never has to worry a day that she has left in this world. She provides me with joy and companionship just being herself which at times can be naughty, destructive and daring but also humorous, intelligent and sweet- the perfect Top dog, maybe? but definitely a Top dog for me.
